What is COAL SPINE?
COAL SPINE is a registered brand founded by Mara Chevalier, headquartered in France. Since 2016, we have been a multidisciplinary studio that formulates and produces certified botanical cosmetics in-house. Our work also extends to photography and design.
What does COAL SPINE mean
The name symbolizes the fusion of nature and humanity: “COAL” represents raw materials transforming under pressure, while “SPINE” signifies human strength and determination.
What ingredients does COAL SPINE use?
We responsibly source the highest quality ingredients, including botanicals from certified organic farms in Europe and beyond. Our soap production utilizes chemical compounds from certified laboratories.
Do you use essential oils?
Yes, our Botanical Oils, Balms, Moon Soaps, and Moon Bars contain essential oils. As a European brand, we adhere to strict EU standards for topical concentrations to ensure safety and environmental sustainability.
Who produces the collection?
The entire COAL SPINE collection is produced by Mara Chevalier in our lab in France. We do not outsource production.
Who designed and formulated the Moon Soaps?
Mara Chevalier designed the Moon Soaps, inspired by the moon's significance and aligned with our ethos rooted in Demeter, Carl Jung, and alchemy.
Can we collaborate?
Yes, collaboration is possible! We will discuss our respective roles and establish agreements before production to ensure a clear path forward. Note that COAL SPINE retains all intellectual property rights and does not sell licenses or waive ownership of formulations.
Are you open to custom products?
If we are a good fit, we can discuss custom products. Keep in mind that we do not use original custom-made forms for collaborative agreements, maintaining our brand's authentic visual signature.
Tell me more about the copyrights?
All our creative, artistic, and formulation work is protected by copyright, which begins at creation. This includes our logo, name, soap design, label design, and formulations. All rights are reserved since 2016 for the brand and logo and since March 2020 for soaps and labels.
